What I'm dying to get a hold of for the fall season!

Now there are so many clothing items I've been trying to find that either are just what I'm looking for but super expensive or just not quite what I was picturing, so if you guys know any cheaper stores that have any of these things it would be awesome if you could leave a comment lining to their website or just give a store name! And if you guys want to see the online stores I tend to shop at, look on the left side bar for links to their websites! :)

As you all know, fall is coming in a couple weeks and now is the time to hit all your favorite stores and get that good good. Let's see, things I've been obsessed with for a while now is definitely some light grey faux suede thigh high boots!! Ugh they are so cute! Then when you wear an oversize sweater with them!! I've actually had my eye on this distressed over-sized mauve sweater that would look so bomb with those boots. Let me see if I can find a picture...

Probably would like them a little longer but this is basically the idea of what I want so. Besides my favorite color, which is always red, I have my always changing favorite colors and right now it's definitely this light grey, mauve, olive green, and blush pink. But everything in stores right now are these colors and it's just heaven. EVERYTHING IS IN MY FAVORITE COLOR RIGHT NOW WHICH MAKES IT REALLY HARD TO SAVE MONEY WHEN THERE ARE ALL OF THESE CUTE CLOTHES EVERYWHERE.

Anyways, I also found a picture of that distressed mauve sweater and yup, love love love. Thanks pinterest!

More things I've been wanting, okay, we all now bomber jackets are super in right now and I'm guilty of having 3, but I found this one bomber on the Dolls Kill online store. It's a silk black and cream bomber with rose embroidery on it and when I saw it, ugh it just looks so cool and so soft and yeah. If only it wasn't $100.

Just looked on the site and IT WASN'T THERE ANYMORE so I found one with the same structure just with dragon embroidery instead of the roses, so good enough. But, now I have to go look for the same one on another site.

Another item I've had my eyes on is maybe customizing my own pair of Adidas SuperStars. Don't really need them but I do at the same time??? I just think it would be cool to have a pair of shoes no one else has that I designed. Maybe that's the reason I'm taking a fashion design class, to make things no one else has and that I made myself?

Now I just need to find these items online on a cheap store that's good quality and to my liking. That won't be hard at all. So if you guys have any suggestions just comment them below so I can check them out!. I also linked the Dolls Kill website and other stores I've been into lately into the left side bar so go check them out!

Haute Couture

Haute Couture, before today, I was pronouncing it "hot" couture because of that one clothing commercial(I forgot what company) but they kept saying things like "our clothes are haute(pronouncing it "hot"), yeah, we know how we said it, because our line is both!" Something like that. But apparently, it's pronounced "oat", so now I get to relive all those times I would say something was haute couture, thinking I was all cool, but nope. So, for those of you who have no idea what haute couture even is well here is the dictionary definition, “fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.”  The term "haute couture" originates in France, and when translated, haute couture means "high fashion". Most of the time, haute couture doesn't refer to a single garment, but the designer behind it. So, when a designer or fashion company has the name "couture" at the name of it, it means that company or designer have earned the title. For a designer to qualify as haute couture, they have to always release a clothing line with at least 50 garments shown every season and also create outfits that are designed around the client with the client having multiple fittings. Because the clothes are hand-made, designers are putting in 100s of hours into a single piece. And because they're hand-made, they also are super expensive, costing even up to $100,000 and sometimes over that. When I buy a shirt from Forever 21, I debate if I really want to buy a shirt if it's over $12. Anyways, since it's so expensive, it limits its market to only those who can afford it, like celebrities and sugar babies.

What 'needs' do you think clothing satisfies? Physical Needs?Emotional Needs? Other Needs? Provide specific examples to illustrate your answer.

Clothing solves all my problems whether it be emotional or physical. Cold? Put on a fly jacket and you're good to go. Feeling especially sad and want to cry? Well put on some comfy sweatpants and sweatshirt so you can cry while comfortable! Sweatpants solve everything. I love sweatpants. Here's a tip, always have at least six pairs of sweatpants in your closet, so you can have one for every day of the school week and one for Saturday. Now you might be thinking. What about Sunday? Well Sunday is laundry day for all your sweatpants and it's Sunday, you won't be wearing pants anyway. What if I have plans? If your plans are to watch Netflix and eat food all day then yeah, otherwise, you don't have any actual plans, don't lie to me.

On a more serious note, or however serious I can be, clothing does solve most of my problems(I was being serious about the whole jacket part but I'll go more in depth on that). The whole dressing for the weather, it's blazing hot outside because it's the middle of July in California. I feel satisfied with my clothing choice on a physical well-being level is I try to wear as little clothing as possible while not actually being naked. Same with winter, it's the beginning of January in Minnesota, how can I satisfy my needs of wanting to be in a sleeping bag without actually being in a sleeping bag. On the emotional side, if I'm in a super good mood and feel extra motivated to look good, my clothing choices as well as my hair and makeup readiness will reflect that. When I'm in a not so good mood, I will dress the opposite of what I feel to maybe feel a bit better. Or, like the first paragraph, will go with the sweatpants method. SWEATPANTS METHOD FOR THE WIN!

In your opinion, does wearing school uniforms increase learning? reduce violence? reduce stereotyping and prejudice? Support your answer with specific examples.

To be completely honest, I really don't care if school uniforms increase academic learning because I just in general don't like school uniforms. It's fine if you do because of the whole convenience part of not having to pick out an outfit for school every morning, but for me, picking my outfit for the day is the one thing I like about going to school. But to answer the question, I would say school uniforms don't increase learning in schools. If you get distracted by what someone wears then that's your problem. Especially the whole school dress code for schools(don't even get me started on the exposed shoulders and shorts/skirt length rules).

I don't know if I have an opinion on if school uniforms reduce violence. I mean if people want to beat each other up then they'll beat each other up, regardless of their clothing. Usually it's the personality behind the clothes that makes them get beat up not the clothes themselves. School uniforms might help with reducing gang related by making all the students wear the same school colors, but students find tons of loopholes in dress codes all the time, even with schools who have uniforms. I'm probably not the best person to be asked this question anyway because I avoid all confrontation.

Stereotyping and prejudice is just something that will always be there no matter how much people try to eliminate it. Some idiot will say something dumb about another person because of their race, sexual orientation, religion, and/or gender because those people just enjoy negative attention. People like that we will never be rid of. I'm all for expressing yourself through clothing and I don't really care if people stereotype me or judge me because of what I wear. I like my outfit and I like how I look in my outfit so why should I care what you think sort of thing(unless it's a compliment because that is very kind and thank you so much). Again with the whole people will find something about you to pin point and drag even if it isn't about your clothes. This is the only question where it's all up to you as a person. If the bullying or slurs get too overwhelming and you feel that school uniforms might reduce any of it because you can blend in more easily, then go for it. So I guess school uniforms might help a little bit with reducing stereotypes based on what you wear, but then people will just find something else about you. A never ending cycle. I say, if people are going to judge you anyway, might as well make it a bang and put on a bomb outfit(see what I did there) that you love and just go with it.

What messages do you think you send through your clothing? What about other people? What messages do you think they send through the clothes they wear?

Fashion is just like any other art form, expressing yourself through whatever you're doing, whether it be on canvas or in writing. But the difference is, you can keep what you create private and conceal it from the public eye if you want. Fashion is public, everyone you see, sees what you wear and can make assumptions of who you are based on your outfit. Like when I plan outfits, it is expressing myself, but not my whole self, just a small part of it. It all depends on what vibe I want to put out there. Sometimes I get in that particularly motivated mood to you know, look hot af. I'll make sure my outfit is on-point with these leggings I have with this ribbed detailing on the knees, this one shirt that's cut up the sides(I actually did that myself but my whole style hacks is a whole other blog entree), my favorite army jacket, and of course this baddie outfit isn't finished without my all-white Adidas SuperStars(love them sooo much, they step up every outfit by like 10 notches especially if I'm wearing street wear). I actually have a picture of it so I'll put that in here.

Okay, but I'm getting off topic, I guess the message I try to send is that myself, as a person has finally figured out their style and maybe a little intimidating at first(I have a bad case of RBF), especially when I'm in my street wear inspired outfits. But then there's other days like yesterday, okay now I need to put in that story. So this student teacher dude in my class made all the girls with long hair scrunchies so is they forget a hair tie, he can give us one to put our hair up when were in the sewing room. I'm usually not a fan of scrunchies but when I got this red scrunchy with this sort of cartoon floral pattern on it.... I FELL IN LOVE. Planned a whole outfit around it, it was awesome(really wish I had a picture to put in here). But yeah, that look was super fun and I completely picked up the vibe the outfit was giving off. Like I was unusually enthusiastic and energized while at school and I just looked and acted like someone people would want to be friends with. That was a really cool change, it was fun, and I looked like someone who didn't hate everyone for a day. Again, the whole message thing changes day to day, but I hope my outfits are somewhat inspiring to people. You know that saying "fake it till you make it", that's what I do everyday. My outfits definitely have more confidence than me but hey, people think I'm confident because of them so that's good message to be giving off.

It's completely different when I see other people and think about their vibe. It's actually kind of funny listening to me talk about other people's outfits because I never say anything negative I just sort of think about what kind of music they listen to or other random stuff. And when I see a girl or a guy in an outfit that just looks so bomb I just longingly stare at them, wishing I was friends with them because they just look so cool and I want to be cool like them and I want to hang out with them and borrow their clothes and I wonder if they like my clothes maybe we could swap. I don't know, just stuff like that. But I'm just too shy and get that whole "ugh I'm so annoying" feeling and try to just accept the fact that I will never see them again and their amazing outfit will become a distant memory.... oh well.

And thems the facts.

Why did you choose to study fashion? What do you hope to learn by taking a fashion class?

Yooooo!! What's up guys! First blog entry, let's go.

Fashion, always been something I've been in to. Been around since the ol' Justice days(If you haven't heard of the store Justice or Limited Too you are very lucky for not having to suffer through that era in elementary and middle school. But I highly recommend you look it up just to at least have a reference and for the experience). Probably my favorite being the sparkly pink flannel paired with a jean skirt and leggings that had silver peace signs on them. Those were the days. Then came the whole "No one understands me", 13 year old on tumblr phase. Then the "I want to experiment with clothing trends but I don't want people to make fun of me for wearing something not in my lane" phase. And now, I've finally reached my, what I think to be, my high school fashion peak(of course in a couple years I will completely cringe looking at the outfit I'm wearing today, but for now, I look gooooooddd). Now because of this opportunity to take this fashion class, instead of taking old things and making them my own, I get the chance to make a completely entirely new outfit! That I made! By myself! In fashion class! Being here makes those 2 second sketches during English class into something I can wear in real life. 2-D to 3-D. There's so much I get to learn this year and in a subject I actually want to learn more about. Learn about different types of fabrics and how to shape them, how to get all those cool textures I see in my head into reality. Especially excited to learn more about the industry and how to get into the industry. So really I just want to learn everything.

But yep, this is my fashion blog, about my experience in fashion class at SVCTE. Soooo here we goooo!!!
